Wednesday Nights at Stonebridge Baptist Church are just special! Wednesday nights is REFUEL AND RECHARGE, and every week we gather for a meal and fellowship, for either a book study or testimonies, and a time of prayer. There are breakout groups for all ages at 6:30. This is the typical Wednesday night. If you are not yet connected, get connected! You will be blessed!

On Wednesday, May 22nd we will have a special guest Zoom in with us from Dallas, Texas. We will Zoom her in on the big screen in the sanctuary. Her name is Dr. Katie McCoy, and she has written a powerful book that has drawn the attention of Christians and churches across the United States. Her book addresses the serious cultural moment we are in, specifically, the confusion over gender and how Christians can respond.

Dr. McCoy received her PhD from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and then was a professor there for five years. She is now the Ministry Lead for Texas Baptists Women's Ministry. She is not only speaking around the country but is also a frequent guest on many podcasts. We are blessed to have her with us for this time!

Dr. McCoy will address the current cultural moment, the confusion, the things that fuel the confusion, will look at the science behind what is happening, and why gender dysphoria is predominantly among young females (junior high-high school age), and how we as Christians can respond. Her book is exceptionally well researched.

As Christians, we are to be salt and light. That means we are to engage the culture. We are to flavor and illuminate the culture. The salt cannot stay in the saltshaker, and we cannot hide our light to 'play it safe.' What is needed is Biblical clarity, getting equipped, yielding to the Holy Spirit and making ourselves available to the Lord to be used by Him, to speak the Truth in Love. This time with Dr. McCoy will be a great time of equipping.

We have purchased twenty-five books at a remarkable price of $9.00. Those books will be available to the first twenty-five people who want to purchase one, at cost (so, $9.00), after she speaks on the 22nd of May. One per household please.

I want to encourage you to bring your friends who may be looking for a church home. I want to encourage you to bring a friend who may have a child struggling with confusion over gender. I want to encourage you to be present and to invite. I also encourage you to pray. We must bathe this time in prayer.

Youth workers and youth parents and youth: We encourage you to stay in the sanctuary with us on this particular Wednesday night.  Parents, I believe it is absolutely appropriate for your 6-12th grader to be present. This is the age group that is being hit the hardest. Your children are more aware of what is happening than you realize, and may well have questions themselves. This time will be beneficial to them as well as to you as the parent.

Parents with children younger than 6th grade: I think it best for our kiddos to go to their breakout session with our children's workers that night. I do want to encourage you as a parent, even if your child is younger than 6th grade, to be present so you too can learn with us.

If you have no children or if you are a grandparent: come! This is a time for all of us.

I hope to see you every Wednedsay for REFUEL AND RECHARGE, and I hope to see you on Wednesday, May 22, with Dr. McCoy!

Grace to You,

Pastor Kevin
